i mean the particular skills you would need to have for each job SEPARETALY, i know you would need many things for all the jobs but for school i have to pick one for 'young enterprise' and would like to know what skills i need to be good at

Hope that helps.I have a 2nd interview for sales rep job but need help with presentation?Q) I was told at the 1st interview that i was in for a good chance of going for a 2nd interview, but this one will be a panel of directors and senior staff. They are expecting me to present to them my goals, how i will prepare myself for the weeks ahead, how i motivate myself how i will make a diffrence to the company,my pipelines ect ect. Now im good at selling but this presentation is bothering me as i dont know how to set up a decent presentation. One staff member did it on powerpoint, im not great with that but need help in making a presentation that will really surprise them or at least show i have the ability to do the job in hand. Any advice or websites that can help me would be great. Its a 29k job with company car ect and a blue chip comany.Help would be gratefully recieved. Thanks.xxxxxxxx
A) Hi...the fact that the company provided you with the presentation outline is a very positive sign. Your goal for the second interview is to sell YOU. You did not identify the timeframe; so I assume you need to have some ready soon. One book that may provide you a framework for big-picture thinking is "Leadership Challenge" by James Kouzes and Barry Posner. I used their five leadership principles (1.. Model the Way
2. Inspire a Shared Vision
3. Challenge the Process
4. Enable Others to Act
5. Encourage the Heart) as the framework to attack the same type of interview a few years back. I suggest you may want to looks at this model as a possible strategy for your second interview, too.
Best wishes and go for it!Self appointed supervisor at work?Q) Hi everyone
I have this guy at work, who is based in another office..he is in London, we are based in Birmingham, because he has been there for 3 years and we have been here for 2 months, he called us to say that he was the supervisor.
The managing Director said that he is not the supervisor,
another sales director has said that he is not a supervisor either
I told this 'supervisor' that until I see his new contract with the job title SUPERVISOR on the top then he can tell me what to do.
What do you think, you have to get a new contract if your job title changes dont you?
A) I don't think you *have* to get a new contract if your job title changes (although most people probably would), because I moved positions at work at didn't get one, but then I didn't ask for one either. Mind you, I probably should because it says that my line manager is someone who left the company four months ago.
However, I fully understand your concerns about this guy!!! Sounds like a bit of a freak!
Check your own contract - it should state who your line manager is (i.e. who your real supervisor is). Then you can show that to this guy and say "look, you're not my supervisor, so-and-so is!" Also, your company should have organizational charts showing company structure and who reports to whom, so also show this to him if necessary.
Then again there's probably no need to go stirring up trouble. If you've already raised your concerns with the Directors and they've said he's not a supervisor, then there's no need to worry. So my advice would be just to ignore him. What key skills do i need before i can get a senior management job?Q) I've been working in the travel industry for almost 10 years selling technology on both sides of the supply chain. I'm currently a group sales manager reporting to the MD, have a couple of people under me and am consistently interacting with senior managers both internally and externally.
Its easy for me to 'open doors' based upon my reputation and knowledge of the industry and my current CEO calls daily with new challenges or a 'talk to so and so' request to get a relationship going which may prove fruitful in future.
I'm eager to now move into a Senior Management position e.g. Sales Director or equivalent and wonder if i have any skills missing which may be holding me back? Or put another way what skills do you absolutely need before these doors open up?
A) You need to learn how to please your managing director ;)Co worker continues to accuse me of wrongdoing behind my back.?Q) I am in sales, we have territorys, leads come into us from external sources. I have responsibility to distribute "off territory" leads between myself and co worker - over the past years he has accused me, behind my back, of not being fair. I keep detailed logs of distribution. We have a new Director and he has caused suspicion with the new Director and the job of distributing the leads has been taken away, even though I shared the log with with the new Director. When I have tried to discuss this with coworker he denies it. He also attacks me personally to the Director - should I go to HR, the other day I was confronted by the Director after coworker printed out a lead and gave it to Director claiming I was be dishonest, come to find out the lead was in my territory and mine anyway. This has caused distance between me and co worker but new Director says I am making other staff uncomfortable due to not speaking to co worker who is causing hostel work place. Is this form of harrassment?
A) It sounds like this person is trying to undermine you, because he/she knows you are better at the job. It is definitely a form of harassment. Either insist on a meeting with the director and coworker together, or if they won't go for that, go to HR. Hope it works out for you. What is the best way of earning money working at home?Q) I got made redundant last year and have found it difficult getting a job.I previosly a director of a giftware company looking after sales admin staff and everything else. Since i have been unemployed my wife is working full time leaving me collecting and picking up the kids from school.
I am educated got a home office and want to earn good money, i can visit customers during school hours and in the evenings.
Has anybody got any ideas?
A) If you have an aptitude for grammar, typing, and medicine, you might look into becoming a medical transcriptionist. I have been one for five years and work from home. I make a pretty decent living doing it.
I have to warn you; it is not a "typing" job or a "data entry" job.
Just google "medical transcription." There are courses online and also at your local colleges.
Do NOT go with a company called TransAm. They are a scam.
Good luck to you.what's the worst job you've ever had, and why ?Q) i've had a few......
1) receptionist at a horse racecourse..... the managing director was one of the queen's cousins, and he has to be one of the most arrogant people who i have ever had the misfortune to meet... he once gave me a whole load of grief for putting a coffee cup down on his desk, and not turning the cup handle towards him... (i got revenge though.... i spat in the next cup of coffee he drank !!!)
2) 12 hour nightshifts, answering technial queries for orange mobile phones - i still can't get over just how many loonies are out there - i had death threats, abusive callers, and all kinds of other sh*t, just over mobile phone problems....
3) my first job was at JJB sports as a saturday sales assistant... i worked in the trainer department - i used to lace that many shoes that sometimes my fingers bled..... i even dreamed about lacing trainers in my sleep !!!
so - what are your work horror stories, and did u ever manage to get revenge ???
A) Few years ago I worked in Broiler Houses. Broilers are the chickens factory farmed for human consumtion. It was fecking horrible. 25, 000 chickens per house. They would come in as nice fluffy chicks and in a few weeks they'd be massive. The heat was bout 40 degrees in each house. Eventually as conditions became unbearably cramped they would start to cannibalise each other. When everything is white feathers a speck of blood would send them mad - peck each other to bits. Many were crushed or somehow got themselves caught in the mechanised grain feeders. My job was to remove the corspes and toss them in a skip. Bout a hundred dead ones each day in each house. The noise was deafening just the hum of the machines the sqwaking of distressed birds. And the smell..... bird dung and rotting flesh....

I have friends there and am a huge Gatorhead, but need to find a job first. I am currently a sales director with plenty of B2B and management experience. If anyone is looking to hire or knows a listing of employment opportunities in the Gainesville area it would be greatly appreciated.
A) I don't know anyone personally, but I did a little research for you and I found this job. It is with the City of Gainesville, but I don't know when the job was posted.
Good luck!Ive got my BA in History, what non sales jobs are best for making money for grad school?Q) I need desperately to move out of my parents house by mid-August. I have been applying for jobs outside of the area since May, and have gotten no leads. My resume was written by one of those workforce places, and so it should not be too bad. I am in my mid 20's.. with summerly clerical experience working for a department head at a hospital. (Director of Nursing). Same company hired me back each year, even created a position for me one summer. But that is only a temp position and does not accomplish my goal of moving away from my current area. I hate sales, I absoulutely suck trying to sell stuff. I need garunteed income for bills/rent.. Not commission.. Ive been looking in Admin Assit.. and all of my searching has been with online job searches.. Is there a better way to find a job in a different state? What jobs should I be qualified for with my BA? Help!?Q) Im just good at what I do, and he is a good administrator. Head office has given me a big promotion in another country, as well as my current job, against his wishes, he is making life difficult for me, nasty e-mails, snide comments etc.. I dont want his job, all I want to do is sell and do my job as well as I can. He obviously feels threatened, and I do not want to complain to Head Office about him. Any ideas? Keep my head down or have it out with him? Numbers talk and my department is doing incredibly well.
A) take his job then kick his butt to the curb!!!!!!!!!!!Which Job Title is Bigger -- Director of Sales or National Sales Manager?Q) Please explain Why.
A) this is company specific, typcally directors are at a higher level than managers
responsibilities such as number of reports and budgets they manage should be considered
if you are one of these, worry more about your responsibilities than getting ruffled by others titlesI left a sales job for a management position w a competitor. Am I allowed to solicit old leads & ex-coworkers?Q) I never signed a non-compete clause, nor have I ever signed any sort of confidentiality agreemenet.
When my old employer found out that I went from a sales rep to Director Of Operations with a direct compeitor, they sent me a threatening letter.
The letter said that I am not allowed to contact any of my old leads/contacts to bring the business with me.
The letter also said I am not allowed to solicit my old co-workers to come work for me.
They threaten legal action against both my newemployer and I if I dont adhere to the demands in the letter.
If I didnt sign anything, do they have any legal grounds to threaten me? If so, what are the grounds?
A) If you didn't sign anything, then standard business etiquette and law should apply. Even sales people with non-competes rarely lose these cases. Make sure to be business-like if you contact former clients; if you bad-mouth your former employer it could get back to them and then you could indeed be sued.
I should add that I am not a lawyer, but I have been in sales for 15 years.pretend you are director of sales and.......?Q) ok you have a turnover problem the reason is A Bad Match Between the employee's skills and the job. What can I do to fix this problem?
A) 1. Some ppl do have the skill, but they can't find a great job 'coz they don't have the language. Like doctors from China, they deal with thousands of patients a day, there's no way that can make silly mistakes, such as the inability 2 detect a X-ray fractured bone. U don't even need to wait in line, & they give u the medicines right away. But if they move to another country, & don't have the language, then they won't find a suitable job. So the 1st suggestion is bring the "competition" to their own country. Compare the same job title in their own mother lands. 'Course i don't mean by let them fighteting. They should talk about the jobs in there own country & respect each others. Everything has its own benefits & disadventages. So don't go sth, like"mine is better, urs is poor."
2. The understanding of importance. A great company is consisted of tons different job titles. Like a restaurant, it has waiters, cleaners, & even high up to the managers & chairman. Ppl should cooperate. 'Coz if one job in a whole fails, then the whole will fail. A 5 star restaurant must have polite waiters, right?
3. Happiness is the true bless. Some1 can't even find a job, or doesn't even want to find a job. Compare 2'em, u are better, much better.Do clergy have the right to mandate what types of jobs their parishioners choose?Q) A woman in Wisconsin, who works in sales selling marital aids, was told by her priest to either quit that sales job or give up her position as church organist & choir director. The priest says her job is against the teachings of the church.
This is the story from WFSB news in Hartford CT:
http://www.wfsb.com/news/13417663/detail.html
So, in effect, if you are a church member do you have a right to a private life and to choose the career you wish or is the clergy overstepping their boundaries and elbowing in where they should not be?
swbarnes - I don't know about where you live, but out where I do I do not know one person who is an organist or in a choir who is paid to do that so therefore they are not an employee - an employee is a paid position not a voluntary one.
A) i believe that he has control of his church.
i may not agree with his decision. but churches are in essence private venues. they can pick and choose their people.
i applaud her choice to continue her work and refuseing to allow a man to run her life. What is the highest paid sales job on the planet.?Q) I need a product to sell that is extremely high value with a good mark up.

(real estate) Life insurance to a race car driver or other high risk candidate. Large land deals of some specific nature.Where can I recruit top talent for the jobs I'm hiring for? for free?Q) My company is hiring graphic designers, .net developers, c++ programmers, an office manager, a PR director, and sales people in Nashville, TN.
